TRAINING COURSES

·    3-day First Aid at Work Training Courses (FAW)

The 3-day First Aid at Work Course runs for three consecutive days including examination time.  The syllabus of subjects taught is set out in the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 - Approved Code of Practice 2009.

After successful completion of the course and examination (75% pass mark required), a certificate is then issued qualifying them to work in industry as a First Aider for a period of three years.

·    2-day First Aid at Work Refresher Courses

A 2-day Refresher Course is to be completed to refresh and update first aid skills for candidates with a valid first aid certificate that is up for renewal.  (First Aiders whose certificates have expired must attend the 3-day course to regain their qualification).

After successful completion of the course and examination (75% pass mark required), a certificate is then issued qualifying them to continue in the role of First Aider for a further three years.

·    1-day Emergency First Aid at Work Courses (EFAW)

This 1-day course is ideal for smaller workplaces presenting few health & safety risks with candidates learning Basic Emergency Aid in accordance with the syllabus of subjects taught as set out in the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 - Approved Code of Practice 2009.

After successful completion of the course, an attendance certificate is issued qualifying them to work in industry as an Emergency First Aider for a period of three years.

·    Basic Skills Update Course

Although it is not mandatory, the HSE recognise that 'skills fade' does occur during the three year validity of current certificates and it will be strongly recommended to employers that first aiders attend a three hour Basic Skills Update (BSU) annually to help qualified first aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes in first aid procedures.

·    Early Years Course (block bookings only)

This course is aimed at registered child minders and childcare workers covering the subject areas as set out in the syllabus

recommended by the National Child Minders Association (NCMA) and Pre-school Learning Alliance. Course duration is

        12-hours.

After successful completion of the course and examination, a certificate valid for three years is then issued.

·    Automated External Defibrillator Courses

We are able to offer training for qualified First Aiders to acquire competency following a course of instruction and the skills associated with using Automated External Defibrillators.

Candidates are taught to assess a situation involving a sudden cardiac arrest and the correct usage of an Automated External Defibrillator.

A certificate is issued after a successful assessment, which is valid for 12 months.

·    Manual Handling Course

This is a half-day course aimed at all employees who are required to manually move and handling heavy goods/equipment. Teaching can be carried out onsite.

A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the course.

·    Patient Moving & Lifting Course

This half-day course is aimed to teach carers how to lift and handle elderly/infirm patients correctly.  Teaching can be carried out onsite.

A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the course.
