TRAINING COURSES

·    4-Day Training Courses

The 4-day First Aid at Work Course runs for four consecutive days including examination time.  The syllabus of subjects taught is set out in the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 - Approved Code of Practice.  (see below for a list of course contents)

After successful completion of the course and examination (75% pass mark required), a certificate valid for three years is then issued.

·    2-Day Refresher Training Courses

A 2-day Refresher Course is to be completed to refresh and update first aid skills for candidates with a valid first aid certificate that is up for renewal.  (First Aiders whose certificates have expired must attend the 4-day course to regain their qualification).

After successful completion of the course and examination (75% pass mark required), a certificate valid for a further three years will then be issued.

·    1-Day Appointed Person Training Courses

This 1-day course is ideal for smaller workplaces presenting few health & safety risks or as cover when no First Aider is available, i.e. holidays/sickness.

Candidates will learn basic emergency aid and a certificate of attendance valid for three years will be issued on completion of the course.  (see below for a list of course contents)

Employers should note that an Appointed Person is not an acceptable alternative to a First Aider and it is therefore essential that, other than in exceptional circumstances, there are sufficient number of First Aiders on site to provide coverage at all times when people are at work.

·    First Aid Update Session

This half-day First Aid Update session is specifically for fully qualified First Aiders, giving a chance to refresh  knowledge and skills, midway through the 3 year certificated period.

·    Early Years Course (block bookings only)

This course is aimed at registered child minders and childcare workers covering the subject areas as set out in the syllabus

recommended by the National Child Minders Association (NCMA) and Pre-school Learning Alliance. Course duration is 9-hours.

After successful completion of the course and examination, a certificate valid for three years is then issued..

·    Automated External Defibrillator Courses

We are able to offer training for qualified First Aiders to acquire competency following a course of instruction and the skills associated with using Automated External Defibrillators.

Candidates are taught to assess a situation involving a sudden cardiac arrest and the correct usage of an Automated External Defibrillator.

A certificate is issued after a successful assessment, which is valid for 12 months.

·    Manual Handling Course

This is a half-day course aimed at all employees who are required to manually move and handling heavy goods/equipment. Teaching can be carried out onsite.

A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the course.

·    Patient Moving & Lifting Course

This half-day course is aimed to teach carers how to lift and handle elderly/infirm patients correctly.  Teaching can be carried out onsite.

A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the course.
