3-day First Aid at Work Training Courses (FAW)

The 3-day First Aid at Work Course runs for three consecutive days including examination time. The syllabus of subjects taught is set out in the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 - Approved Code of Practice 2009.

After successful completion of the course and examination (75% pass mark required), a certificate is then issued qualifying them to work in industry as a First Aider for a period of three years.

2-day First Aid at Work Refresher Courses

A 2-day Refresher Course is to be completed to refresh and update first aid skills for candidates with a valid first aid certificate that is up for renewal. (First Aiders whose certificates have expired must attend the 3-day course to regain their qualification).

After successful completion of the course and examination (75% pass mark required), a certificate is then issued qualifying them to continue in the role of First Aider for a further three years.

1-day Emergency First Aid at Work Courses (EFAW)

This 1-day course is ideal for smaller workplaces presenting few health & safety risks with candidates learning Basic Emergency Aid in accordance with the syllabus of subjects taught as set out in the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 - Approved Code of Practice 2009.

After successful completion of the course and assessment, an attendance certificate is issued qualifying them to work in industry as an Emergency First Aider for a period of three years.

Basic Skills Update Course

Although it is not mandatory, the HSE recognise that 'skills fade' does occur during the three year validity of current certificates and it will be strongly recommended to employers that First Aiders attend a three hour Basic Skills Update (BSU) annually to help qualified first aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes in first aid procedures.

Automated External Defibrillator Courses

We are able to offer training to acquire competency following a course of instruction and the skills associated with using Automated External Defibrillators, even if you have no prior first aid experience.

Candidates are taught to assess a situation involving a sudden cardiac arrest and the correct usage of an Automated External Defibrillator.  This course is run in accordance with the UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines of 1 lecturer per 6 candidate. Course duration is 4-hours.

After successful completion of the course and assessment, an attendance certificate is issued which is valid for 12 months.
